Trouble shooting
If Infrared Monitor doesn't see a device in range
Make sure that:
Infrared is turned on.
If Infrared is already turned on
 | The search interval is not too high. |
 | The device is not too far away. |
 | The device is compliant. |
 | The device is turned on. |
 | The infrared on the device is turned on. |
 | There is nothing blocking the infrared activity. |
 | There is no dirt or grease on the infrared windows. |
 | Direct sunlight is not shining on the infrared receiver. |
 | There are no non-IrDA devices attempting to communicate. |
Infrared connection is established, but occasionally breaks
 | Check for any obstructions between the infrared ports. Ensure that
Ir-Data Link is aligned to IR devices so that they point right at each other, not out of range of 1.5 m or 30( cone angle: move them closer together but not too close to sources of electromagnetic interference.
Eg Monitor and CD-ROM drives. |
Infrared connection is established, but when transferring file connection occasionally breaks.
 | When you run the Windows 95 application Direct Cable Connection (DCC) and establish the connection between the host and guest computers, the guest computer may display the message "Direct Cable Connection was unable to display shared folders of the host computer" and prompt you to enter the computer name of the host computer is on the Status tab of the Infrared Monitor interface screen. |
The connections break
 | When this happened, it may be caused by a slower computer trying to communicate with a faster computer. Try reducing the transmission speed until you succeed in transferring a complete file without error. You can do the adjustment in the Monitor, simply check the Infrared icon and select the taps. Make sure the Limit connection speed box is check and then reduce the speed and click apply. |
Infrared connection cannot be established
 | Make sure you have followed the setup procedure correctly, Redo the setup. If necessary. |
 | Check the Infrared Monitor and make sure Enable Infrared Communication is selected and Com port is correct. |
 | Make sure both Infrared Monitors are properly positioned. |
 | Also, make sure that no other software is using the same Com port as the selected Infrared port. |
If you can't print to an infrared printer
Make sure that:
 | The printer is turned on. |
 | The printer is in range. |
 | The printer is properly assigned to the infrared printer port. |
 | Infrared communication is turned on. |
When you have successfully set up the printer port, you should be able to
print from the printer.
Infrared connection is established, but cannot established communication
between PC
 | Go to Network in control panel and checked
Make sure both PC are not already in the same local area network. |
 | Make sure both PC are using the same network protocol, eg
(TCP/IP) |
 | Make sure they are in the same workgroup. |
 | If communication cannot be established, refer to the Windows 95's |
 | Help wizard, and log on under the topic of infrared.
